The Citrus County Board of County Commissioners presented a Proclamation at their regular meeting on October 13 proclaiming October 23 through October 31, 2015 “Red Ribbon Week” in Citrus County.

It is the goal of Red Ribbon Week, the Board of County Commissioners, and the Anti-Drug Coalition of Citrus County, to involve families, schools, businesses, churches, law enforcement agencies and service organizations in all aspects of this campaign and establish an atmosphere that supports awareness, education and on-going initiatives to prevent illegal drug use. Substance abuse is particularly damaging to one of our most valuable resources, our children, and a contributing factor in the three leading causes of death for teenagers; accidents, homicides, and suicides.
