He secured a $6.55M grant from the Florida Department of Transportation and Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program to mitigate county project costs. Walt is currently engaged in the county’s next major corridor project, County Road 491, and through his job knowledge and coordination with other county departments, he has helped this project transform from a conventional roadway widening project to an economic stimulus project. Walt oversees several other projects; the county bridge repair program, barge canal boat ramp and access road projects, Yulee Drive sidewalk improvement project, SCOP grants, and Withlacoochee State Trail crossing improvements. Walt currently serves as the FDOT local agency project manager and he processes grant applications for the county as well as the cities of Crystal River and Inverness.
