The Citrus County Board of County Commissioners
presented a Proclamation at their regular meeting on September 26, 2017,
proclaiming the week of October 1-7 of 2017 as National 4-H Week in Citrus
County. More than seven million young people across the country are celebrating
National 4-H Week 2017. This is the largest youth development organization in
the world teaching young people citizenship, leadership and life skills.
More than three hundred 4-H members and seventy
volunteers are involved in our local Citrus County 4-H programs. Research has
proven that participation in 4-H has a significant positive impact on young
people. Youth engaged in 4H programming are nearly four times more likely,
compared to peers, to contribute to their communities, pursue healthy
behaviors, and engage in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM)
programs in their out of school time. 4-H youth development programs make a
positive impact on our community.
