Two Free Florida-Friendly Gardening Workshop in December 2017

Citrus County Utilities Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ Program is offering a free gardening workshop on December 5, 2017 from 2:00-3:30 pm.  An important component of pest management strategies is identifying damaging insects. Many insects found in the landscape due little or no harm, while some are vital to food production.  Identifying the beneficial and pollinator visitors must be considered when applying harmful products minimizing potential damage to non-targeted pests.    Classes are held at the Citrus County Extension Service building located at 3650 W Sovereign Path in Lecanto.  Please contact Steven Davis at (352) 527-5708 to confirm your participation or use link below for registration.

Invasive and Nuisance wildlife

Citrus County Utilities Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ Program is offering a free gardening workshop on December 19, 2017 from 2:00-3:30 pm.  Several plant and wildlife species have been introduced to the Florida peninsula. Several species have been intentionally introduced, while others accidentally, but all causing control problems.  Let’s learn which species to be aware of and non-harmful controls being developed to control invasive populations. CR 491 Temporary Nighttime Lane Closures

Nighttime lane closures are scheduled from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM starting on Sunday, December 3 through Friday December 8. 

North Bound and South Bound lanes of CR491 will be temporarily closed during nighttime hours to construct storm water pipe and water utility pipes.  Pipes will be installed under CR491 south of SR44 just south of West Laurel Street.

  • South Bound CR491 lane closure will begin just to the north of SR44. 
  • North Bound CR491 lane closure will begin south of West Laurel Street. 

In addition, due to the lane closure on South Bound CR491, one left turn lane on SR44 will also be temporarily closed.  One North Bound lane and One South Bound lane on CR491 will be provided through the work zone during the nighttime construction period.  Motorists are advised to use caution in the area and to look for alternate routes.
