Citrus County Begins Storm Debris Collection

Category: Press Releases       Posted By: Denise Gallagher       Year: 2016

Citrus County’s storm debris contractor will commence the first of two roadside pickups of storm related vegetative and construction debris on Monday, September 19. Plans are to start in the Old Homosassa area working from Mason Creek northward.

The storm debris will be collected from every publicly accessible road located west of US Highway 19, as long as debris is not mixed and the debris is placed where it can be mechanically collected. Please separate the material into three categories; natural vegetative (tree debris and limbs), construction/demolition debris (furniture, carpet, shingles, building materials), and household hazardous waste. Household hazardous waste will not be collected by the contractor but may be taken to the Citrus County Central Landfill.

The contractor will have crews throughout the impacted area west of US Highway 19. Residents are asked to be patient as the contractor works to complete the collection.
