Sandbag Sites Reach Record Distribution Numbers

Citrus County has distributed a record number of sandbags in the past three days as residents prepare for Hurricane Irma. Numbers of sandbags distributed has already surpassed all previous storms in the County’s history. Special thanks to Citrus County Road Maintenance who oversees sandbagging operations and all Citrus County employees working throughout the storm event to keep our citizens safe and well prepared. Sandbag distribution numbers to date are:

Wednesday, September 6: 29,000 bags

Thursday, September 7: 20,000 bags

Anticipated today, Friday, September 8: 20,000 bags

Sandbagging sites will be open today, Friday, September 8, from 8:00 am until 6:00 p.m. 

The locations are as follows:

AREA 1:

4508 S. Grandmarch Ave. Homosassa

(Near Grover Cleveland Blvd.)

AREA 5:

          7490 W. Gulf to Lake Hwy. Crystal River

          (Near Dan’s Clam Stand – on opposite side of road)

***There is a limit of 15 bags per vehicle***

The sandbag supply will be depleted today and sites will not be open over the weekend.
