Join Commissioner Ron Kitchen for a Town Hall meeting on October 12 in Homosassa

Commissioner Ron Kitchen will be holding a Town Hall Meeting on Thursday, October 12 for the general public to attend. The meeting will be held at the Homosassa Library, located at 4100 Grandmarch Avenue in Homosassa, from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm.

“I am looking forward to reporting back to the community on previous issues and hearing about new ones they wish addressed. This will continue to be a question and answer format and not a speech, so I encourage anyone with a question or an item that is important to them to attend,” explained Kitchen.

Citrus County BOCC Proclaims October 1-7 4-H Week in Citrus County

The Board of County Commissioners; Chairman Scott Carnahan, First Vice-Chairman Ron Kitchen, Second Vice-Chairman Jeff Kinnard, Brian Coleman and Jimmie T. The Citrus County Board of County Commissioners presented a Proclamation at their regular meeting on September 26, 2017, proclaiming the week of October 1-7 of 2017 as National 4-H Week in Citrus County. More than seven million young people across the country are celebrating National 4-H Week 2017. This is the largest youth development organization in the world teaching young people citizenship, leadership and life skills.

More than three hundred 4-H members and seventy volunteers are involved in our local Citrus County 4-H programs. Research has proven that participation in 4-H has a significant positive impact on young people. Youth engaged in 4H programming are nearly four times more likely, compared to peers, to contribute to their communities, pursue healthy behaviors, and engage in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) programs in their out of school time. 4-H youth development programs make a positive impact on our community.

Friends of the Community Centers Annual Craft Sale

The Friends of the Citrus County Community Centers will be holding their annual Craft Sale at the Central Citrus Community Center, 2804 W. Marc Knighton Court, Lecanto, on October 9 through 13, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. each day.

Great items that are all hand made by members of the community centers throughout the county will be available for purchase. All proceeds will help the “Friends” to enhance the Community Centers, and programming, for our seniors  in Citrus County.
