Due to the anticipated arrival of Hurricane Dorian, the Hernando/Citrus Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) has cancelled for Wednesday, September 4, 2019 the following committee meetings:

Citrus County Extension’s Tuesday night, September 3rd Cooking Under Pressure class has been cancelled.

Citrus County Water Resources would like to remind citizens that intentionally introducing stormwater into the sanitary sewer system, by opening up a sewer clean out or manhole cover is illegal and may result in enforcement action. The North Florida/South Georgia Veteran Health System (NF/SGVHS) leadership continues to closely monitor Hurricane Dorian.  With the uncertainty of Hurricane Dorian’s track and Monday, September 2 a Federal Holiday, the decision has been made to cancel (and reschedule) all outpatient clinic appointments at all facilities on Tuesday, September 3, 2019. 

The following NF/SGVHS Facilities will be closed on Tuesday, September 3, 2019:

Medical Center Outpatient Clinic Appointments Cancelled for Tuesday, September 3, 2019

-Lake City VAMC Primary Care, Specialty and Mental Health appointments on Tuesday, September 3, 2019 will be cancelled. 

-Gainesville VAMC Primary Care, Specialty and Mental Health appointments on Tuesday, September 3, 2019 will be cancelled.

The Citrus County Board of County Commissioners declares a Local State of Emergency

With the approach of Hurricane Dorian, the Citrus County Board of County Commissioners declared a Local State of Emergency to begin at 5:00pm August 29, 2019.

No evacuations are recommended at this time and no shelters are open.

Sandbagging Sites will open Friday, August 30, Saturday, August 31, and Sunday September 1, 2019 at 7:00am until 7:00pm. 

The locations are as follows:

•             4508 S. Grandmarch Ave. Homosassa

               (Near Grover Cleveland Blvd.)

•             7490 W. Gulf to Lake Hwy. Crystal River

                               (Near Dan’s Clam Stand – on opposite side of road)

•             Spruce Drive Boat Ramp – Hernando, off C-39
