Category: Press Releases       Posted By: Denise Gallagher       Year: 2018

Bring your family, friends and curiosity to the Citrus County Earth Day Festival on Saturday, April 21 from 9-12 noon at the Extension Service Lecanto office and Learning Landscape Garden, 3650 W. Sovereign Path, on the Lecanto Government Center complex, rain or shine.

What insects help our gardens? Why are worms slimy? Which critters provide pollination? Ever looked into a functioning beehive? Get answers to these questions and more at this FREE event with more than 20 fun-filled, hands-on, activities for the young and young-at-heart.

You will interact with live insects, discover where our water comes from and how to protect it, make bird feeders, plant pollinator plants and more.  There will be a Scavenger Hunt with prizes and take home activities for youth. A commemorative tree planting ceremony takes place at 10 am.

This event is co-hosted by the UF/Citrus County Extension Service and the Citrus Native Plant Society.  For more information, call 352-527-5700.
