SUBJECT: Procedures for Citrus County Forfeiture Fund ORIGINATING DEPARTMENT: Administration

DEFINITION:


Citrus County Forfeiture Funds will be defined as funds related to disposition of liens and forfeited property as defined in Florida Statute 932.7055: These funds shall be used for school resource officer, crime prevention, safe neighborhood, drug abuse education and preventions, or for other law enforcement purposes, which include defraying the cost of protracted or complex investigations, providing additional equipment or expertise, purchasing automated external defibrillators for use in law enforcement vehicles, and providing matching fund to obtain federal grants.

POLICIES:

  1. Citrus County Sheriff’s Office shall approve and authorize all donation requests received.
  2. The Board of County Commissioners will acknowledge the quarterly reports provided by the Citrus County Sheriff's Office.
  3. The Board of County Commissioners may request additional information from the Citrus County Sheriff's Office on the use of the funds.
PROCEDURES:

All requests must be submitted through the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office through the use of approved forms in Exhibit A.

The Sheriff or designee shall approve the expenditures through the use of approved form in Exhibit B.

The Citrus County Sheriff’s Office shall submit a detailed expenditure report on a quarterly basis to the Board of County Commissioners through the County Administrator’s Office.

The County Administrator will place the quarterly report on the agenda for Board acknowledgement.
