Administrative Regulation 8.10-1

ADMINISTRATIVE REGULATION:   AR: 8.10-1 DATE APPROVED: February 9, 2010
SUBJECT: Animals in Public Buildings ORIGINATING DEPARTMENT: County Administration

PURPOSE:

This Administrative Regulation is developed to outline when and where animals, as defined by Citrus County Code Section 14-32, are permitted or restricted within County- owned buildings.

PROCEDURE:

  1. No person or persons owning or having charge, care, custody or control of any animal, as defined by Citrus County Code Section 14-32, shall allow said animal to enter or remain in any county-owned building.
  2. The following exceptions shall apply:
    1. when waived by approval of the Board of County Commissioners; or
    2. if the animal is a service animal in use or training as set forth in Section 413.08, F.S.; or
    3. at the Citrus County Courthouse when directed by a court of law; or
    4. in and around the Citrus County Animal Services facility or other County locations being utilized by Animal Services staff for training, treatment or similar activities.
    5. if the animal is in the service of or contracted for service by a law enforcement agency
    6. unless otherwise provided by law.
