RSchlabach-V3webCommissioner Ruthie Davis Schlabach started her term with the Board of County Commission on November 17, 2020.

The roots of Ruthie Davis Schlabach’ s family tree run deep in American soil--so deep, in fact that her roots include ancestors who signed the Mayflower Compact and the Declaration of Independence, and who served in the Revolutionary War to the War in Afghanistan.

A Florida native, she is the eighth of nine children. Her father Ned was a decorated WWII pilot in the Army Air Corps and a commercial airline pilot. Her mother Peggy, a registered nurse. Married for 29 years, Ruthie and Jarey Schlabach first met in the 7ᵗʰ grade at Sarasota Christian School. Ruthie and Jarey have twin daughters Catherine and Julia who were born in Citrus County. The girls are recent 2018 summa cum laude graduates of Lecanto High School. Julia graduated from Florida State University in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in Communication and Digital Media Studies. Julia will complete her Masters program in Global Communications at the University of Florida's Graduate School in August 2022. Catherine is in the final year of a five-year program in Aerospace Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Experience

With over 34 years of experience in Business Administration, Bookkeeping, Human Resource, and Customer Service, Ruthie has co-owned Schlabach Security & Sound, Inc. with her husband Jarey for 29  years. SSS, Inc. is a State licensed Fire and Alarm contractor. Ruthie Schlabach has worked closely with Citrus County’s local government. Ruthie has served on the Board for Citrus County Code Enforcement, Forest Ridge Elementary Chairperson of the SEAC Committee, Ft. Cooper Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), 27-year membership with the Citrus County Building Alliance and the Citrus County Chamber of Commerce in addition to the countless hours she has spent volunteering in our public schools.
