Reminder to Participate in Community Survey

Citrus County has joined the AARP network of Age-Friendly Communities. The purpose of the AARP Age-Friendly Communities program is to serve as a catalyst to educate, encourage, promote, and recognize improvements that make cities, towns, and counties more supportive not only of their older residents, but for residents of all ages.  One of the first requirements of network membership is to have our citizens complete a Community Survey.

We need your help to get as many citizens, age 50 and better, to complete the survey, which is available online at http://bit.ly/20AARP. A hard copy (paper) version of the survey is also available at the county libraries, community centers, the Lecanto health department, Citrus County Resource Center and other agency locations.  When complete, the paper version can be returned to any of those locations.

The survey is specific to Citrus County, and is completely anonymous. The focus is on those ages 50 and better, and citizens are identified only by zip code.    If you are 50 or better, and can complete the survey please do! If you know others in that age group, please share the message, spread the word, and encourage them to complete the survey, too. We need help to meet our obligation of gathering at least 1,000 competed surveys.

People of all ages benefit from the adoption of policies and programs that make neighborhoods walkable, feature transportation options, enable access to key services, provide opportunities to participate in community activities, and support housing that is affordable and adaptable. Well-designed, age-friendly communities foster economic growth and make for happier, healthier residents of all ages.
