WHAT: Matter of Balance Class

WHEN:  Wednesdays, starting August 12, 2020 until September 30, 2020. Two sessions will be offered, session 1 from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm or session 2 from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm, please choose one. Classes are held once a week for 8 weeks for 2 hours each.

WHERE:               UF/IFAS Extension Citrus County, 3650 W Sovereign Path in Lecanto.

WHY:     Fear of falling can be just as dangerous as falling itself. People who develop this fear often limit their activities, which can result in severe physical weakness, making the risk of falling even greater. Many older adults also experience increased isolation and depression when they limit their interactions with friends and family. A Matter of Balance can help people improve their quality of life and remain independent.

A Matter of Balance is designed to reduce the fear of falling and increase activity levels among older adults. Participants learn to set realistic goals to increase activity, change their environment to reduce fall risk factors, and learn simple exercises to increase strength and balance.

“Face coverings are required for all participants at in-person events. Individuals at a higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19 (including older adults and vulnerable people of all ages with certain underlying medical conditions) should avoid in-person events and gatherings at this time.”

Pre-registration is required and is first come first serve so call early.
