Update of Forest Ridge Boulevard Improvement Project

Update on Forest Ridge Boulevard Improvement Project

Citrus County and the State of Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) are working together on a Safe Routes to School (SRTS) sidewalk project and road resurfacing on Forest Ridge Boulevard.

FDOT is managing the SRTS sidewalk project. Due to the cost of the sidewalk project and the State’s current funding constraints, the SRTS project will be broken down into multiple phase. The first phase extends the sidewalk from County Road 486 to Lake Beverly, is currently being designed, and construction is expected to start in 2021.

The Forest Ridge Boulevard resurfacing project is also being broken into two phases. The first phase of resurfacing Forest Ridge Boulevard extends from County Road 491 to Lake Beverly and is currently out to bid. The second phase of Forest Ridge Boulevard will take place once the FDOT completes the construction of the first phase of the SRTS sidewalk project.
