Citrus County Parks and Recreation Opens PLAY Program Basketball for 3 to 5 Year Olds
Citrus County Parks and Recreation will open registration for their P.L.A.Y. program (Preparing
Little Athletes Youth program) on Monday, January 25, 2021 at 9:00am at Citrus County Parks and
Recreation Offices, 2804 W. Marc Knighton Ct, Lecanto.
The upcoming session will focus on lessons in basketball. The P.L.A.Y. program is specifically
designed for children between the ages of three and five years old, who may not be ready for
organized sports leagues, just to teach some game basics. Each session lasts for 6 weeks with
1-hour classes once per week. Parental involvement will be required in every drill, and parents
will be required to wear a mask, while little athletes will not.
Sessions will be held at Central Ridge Community Center located at 77 Civic Circle in Beverly
Hills. The six sessions will be held on the following dates to conclude prior to Spring Break:
February 22, March 1, March 8, March 15, March 18, and March 22.
Program cost is $45, which includes classes, a t-shirt, and a basketball. Hoops will be provided by
Citrus County Parks and Recreation. Equipment will not be shared by participants during the
sessions.
Parents may register their children online at apm.activecommunities.com/citruscountyparks
“This popular program had to be cut short last year due to the pandemic so we have expanded the
program investment this year adding four new basketball hoops,” said Manny Coimbre, Sports and
Event Coordinator. “We’re excited to get things back to normal again for youth in our community.”
