Museum Presents Free Kids' Corner and Crafternoons: Storytime and Nature Walk Programs

The  Old  Courthouse  Heritage  Museum  presents  free  Kids’  Corner  and  Crafternoons  events  
for children on the first and third Saturdays of each month. On Saturday, June 4, 2022, the museum 
will host a kids’ story time: “Books and Bananas,” with readings of stories centered around food, 
from 1:00 - 3:00pm. After the readings, kids will prepare a banana recipe. Families may also visit 
the new exhibit, “Savoring the Sunshine State: Florida Cookbooks.”

On Saturday, June 18, 2022, families can arrive at 10:00am to be led on a nature walk across the 
street to Cooter Pond. Binoculars will be provided to children, but adults may want to bring their 
own.  Adult  supervision  and  pre-registration  are  required  for  all  Kids’  Corner  and  
Crafternoons events. To register, call (352) 341-6428.

Families who visit may want to plan for extra time to explore temporary and permanent museum 
exhibits. The museum gift shop hosts a wide array of Elvis souvenirs and interesting books ranging 
from  children’s  genres,  historical  fiction,  and  local  history.  Visitors  will  also  be  
able  to  enjoy  a farmer’s market on the first and third Saturdays in Downtown Inverness at The 
Depot.

The Old Courthouse Heritage Museum is open to the public Tuesday – Saturday from 10:00am- 4:00pm.
