Citrus County Awarded for Excellence in Financial Reporting

For the nineteenth consecutive year, the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) has awarded Citrus County the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award, the organization’s highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting.

GFOA LOGO“This Distinguished Budget Presentation Award reflects the dedication and efforts of our staff in maintaining the integrity of the budgeting process, and the prudent stewardship of our citizens’ interests. The near two-decade long streak of receiving this honor is also a testament to the commitment of the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting,” said County Administrator Steve Howard.

There are over 1,700 participants in the Budget Awards Program. Citrus County’s submission for FY24 satisfied nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation.  Entries are rated in fourteen mandatory categories across four categories. Recipients of this award have pioneered efforts to improve the quality of budgeting and provide an excellent example for other governments throughout North America.

The BOCC will recognize the Office of Management and Budget’s award at its regular meeting on Tuesday, July 23rd at 1:00 p.m. at the County Courthouse in Inverness.
