Citrus County Septic Upgrade Incentive Grant Program Now Accepting Applications
Upgrade Incentive Grant Program. The Septic Upgrade Program provides a reimbursement of up to
$7,000 per existing home, to eligible homeowners in a pre-approved FDEP area, to cover grant
eligible expenses to install nitrogen-reducing enhancements to an existing conventional Onsite
Sewage Treatment and Disposal Systems (OSTDS).
Completed work must follow all applicable County codes and Florida Health Department (FDOH)
requirements. The homeowner must agree to pay any additional costs above the program’s $7,000 grant
award and any ineligible grant expenses.
A pre-application must be submitted for each eligible home. To receive a copy of the application

County Housing Services Division at septicgrant@citrusbocc.com. Pre-applications can be submitted
online or delivered in-person or by mail to 2804 W Marc Knighton Ct, #12, Lecanto, FL 34461.
Eligible grant awards are on a first‐approved pre-application basis. The pre-application will be
assigned a grant number for tracking purposes. If the grant application form is incomplete, the
Housing Services Division will contact the applicant by the preferred method chosen by the
applicant on the grant pre- application.
The Housing Services Division will notify the homeowner of the eligibility determination. If
eligibility is approved, the Housing Services Division remits a Grant Reimbursement Checklist to
the homeowner by the preferred method chosen by the applicant. Eligibility approval will hold
funding but does not guarantee payment until all requirements are met. If eligibility is denied,
the Housing Services Division will notify the homeowner of the determination. Grant applications
will be accepted until funds are exhausted or the program deadline of September 30, 2022 has been
met.
